Playing Candyland

[Candyland is a classic child’s board game designed for 3-year-olds]  https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Candy_Land

Generally, the people I work with have ‘survival’ pretty well handled. I’m not saying everything in their lives is perfect, but their basic needs are reliably met. They are count-on-able to keep food on the table and a roof overhead.  Over time, the game of simply ‘surviving’ life has become like playing Candyland. They have, over time, become completely reliable for winning that game day after day.

Congratulations for winning, of course, but unless you’re a toddler Candyland is a pretty dull game!

Update your sense of your own level of resilience, wisdom, and strength.  You are so much more capable than the You as a child who started playing Candyland.  See yourself truly, and the challenge becomes inventing a game big enough to be a worthy match to your becoming.

Don’t get me wrong – keep getting out there and kicking butt at that game of survival each day - I’m just saying it likely doesn’t require ALL your attention anymore.

Distinguish between a ‘survival need’ and a ‘survival habit’. Play a new game.

Love,

David
